Systems Engineer, B.Eng(Hons)

Jaco graduated with honours from the University of Pretoria in both Electrical and Bio-Medical Engineering. He then started his career as a Systems Engineer while working for IST Dynamics, specializing in real-time embedded software for mechatronics systems in the defense sector. He was involved in the development of both land and air based weapons turret systems, training simulators, as well as testing and formal certification of avionics software and hardware. He expanded his knowledge by doing further graduate studies in distributed and multi-agent systems after moving to Canada. He is now working in designing building electrical and control systems for commercial, large residential, institutional and industrial buildings.

Jaco is interested in cybernetic control systems, mechatronics, and takes a lot of inspiration for his engineering designs from nature and evolutionary processes.
